TEMS = Test Mobile System
Product by ERICSSON
Solution Tools for Wireless Network to Plan, optimized,
and expand their systems.
A Test tool use to read and control information sent over the air Interface between the base station and the mobile station in GSM cellular system. It can also used for radio coverage measurement.
STEPS FOR INSTALLING TEMS SOFTWARE
- First install .Net 3 and .NET 3.5 in your PC.
we will take TEMS 9 as an example , most of tems versions will install with the same way :
second follow this steps shown in photos:
congratulations :)
you have TEMS PRODUCT now
-You need to install dongle , Dongle driver is automatically install in your PC just when you connect in your PC.
- istall your mobiles and any hand set by their vendor driver.
- install GPS by its driver.
There are many windows we use in 2G tests we will explain the common windows used by DT Engineeer:
How to open the 2G useful windows
GSM current channel:
Time: Computer system time
Cell Name: Serving cell name
CGI: Cell global identity
Cell GPRS support: Yes or No
[MCC MNC , LAC , CI ]
-MCC: Mobile Country Code
- Band: 900 / 900E / 1800
-MNC: Mobile network Code
-LAC: Location Area code
BCCH ARFCN: BCCH frequency
-CI: Cell Identity
TCH ARFCN: The Frequency that carry Traffic only.
Channel Codec:
FR: Full rate HR: Half rate AMR: adaptive multi rate
Ciphering Algorithm: A5/1 for example.
Sub Channel Number: SDCCH is divided into 8 sub channels
Hopping Channel: Yes / No on the cell level.
Hopping Frequencies: Frequencies allocated in the hopping group.
MAIO (Mobile Allocation Index Number): On which frequencies call will start.
EX: MAIO = 0 >>> Call will start on the first frequency
Hopping Sequence Number (HSN): Sequence of which MS hop on frequencies on the same TS
. HSN: 0 > 63
0: Cyclic hopping sequence.
1 > 63: Random hopping sequence.
GSM Serving + Neighbors
Cell Name: Name of the serving cell and neighbor cells
BSIC: Base Station Identity Code BSIC
ARFCN: Absolute Radio Frequency Number >> BCCH Carrier of the cell
Rx lev: Received signal strength -signal strength measured by the MS (dbm).
Ranges (Legend):
GSM Radio Parameters
Rx lev: Measured signal strength
Rx Qual: Voice quality (0 > 7) depend on BER (bit error rate)
FER (Frame Erasure Rate): Percentage of frames being dropped
BERactual: (Number of bit errors / Number of bit transmitted)
SQI: Speech Quality Index
MS Power control level: Power control, dependon network design.
DTX: Discontinuous Transmission.
TA: Timing advance (0 > 63)
0: 500m
1: 1 K , and so on.
GSM Hopping Channel
ARFCN: Traffic carriers.
Rx Lev: measured signal strength of each carrier
. C/I: Carrier to Interference ration Interference: Co-Channel or Adjacent interference
ranges:
GPS
Latitude & Longitude :coordinates
Altitude :The height from the sea surface
Satellites :No. of served Satellites
Speed :The velocity of the car
